ACESSING THE SITUATION IN THE HOME

Identifying the disability will go along way in deterring what items are needed to improve the quality of life for the disabled. What’s SAFE AND WHAT’S NOT IN THE HOME

Being proactive to prevent tripping and falling is paramount. Broken bones take a lot of time to heal and are difficult to overcome. Do a walk through of the house and make a list of things you think should be addressed. Keep the house as clean as possible, the immune systems play a big part in the clear-pathquality of life especially with people battling Asama or COPD, make sure there is a clear pathway threw out the house, Installing handrails in hallways, grab bars in the bathrooms and speaking of bathrooms, consider a taller toilet, two inches can make a big difference, and they’re not that expensive.

SOLUTIONS AND OPTIONS

For every obstacle that can be identified there is a solution or option to help you out, just stay calm and don’t panic. There are products for every situation, in stores and online with different quality and prices. Obviously expense is a concern, so do you due diligence to get the best value for the money. Our house is an older home and the door ways are not that big, if you handy with tools, here is you chance to widen the door way and build a barn door and that’s what we did. Barn doors are very popular so they will add value to you home and give you more room to maneuver. Barn door hardware is easy to find.

BOTTOM LINE

There is a difference between a caregiver and a caretaker, care giving is assigning value to the task at hand, making that person you are caring for a family treasure as they should be. On the other hand a caretaker, is for the most part impersonal, it’s just a job as in taking care for a yard. With the right attitude and God’s direction this is a fight you can win and as time goes along the love flowing from you heart conquers all things.
